Senior Signwriter / Team Lead (Production & Install)

We’re a busy, quality-focused signage business based in Molendinar. We’re a small team in growth mode and we’re looking for a hands-on Senior Signwriter / Team Lead to take ownership of day-to-day production and lead installs on-site when required.

This is a practical, on-the-tools role for someone who leads by example, keeps jobs moving, maintains high standards, and helps improve workflow as we continue to grow.

Salary & progression
Salary: $70,000–$75,000 + paid overtime (OT rates) (based on experience) We’re a small team in growth mode, and this is a key hire for us. The starting salary reflects where the business is today, with a formal salary review at 3 months and 6 months tied to agreed targets (workflow, turnaround times, quality/rework reduction, and install efficiency). As output improves, the package will move with it. Overtime is paid at OT rates when required. Weekend work is occasional during peak periods.

What you’ll be responsible for

Leading signage jobs end-to-end: artwork approval → production → finishing → install.
Coordinating day-to-day workflow and priorities so deadlines are met (small team environment).
Hands-on production across wide format print and finishing as required, including:
o   Printing (HP Latex)

o   Cutting, weeding, laminating, mounting, trimming and general finishing.

Managing production that involves laser cutting/engraving (in-house), including file prep, job setup, and quality checks.
Coordinating CNC-routed components that are outsourced for larger jobs: preparing/confirming files and specs, booking jobs, managing lead times, and checking finished components on arrival.
Producing and assembling illuminated signage in-house, including LED lighting components (where applicable).
In-house plastic fabrication tasks as required (cutting, shaping, assembly and finishing depending on the job).
Coordinating outsourced metal fabrication: confirming specifications, reading/working from technical drawings, managing lead times, and checking delivered components against drawings/spec.
Coordinating materials, hardware and install readiness so jobs don’t stall
Leading and participating in on-site installs.
Quality control: checking specs, colour, sizing, finishing, and install presentation
Liaising with the office/client-facing team on timelines, site requirements, and job details.
Maintaining a safe, organised workshop and strong WHS practices.
Basic equipment care and troubleshooting; escalating issues early to avoid downtime.

What we’re looking for
·       Strong experience in signage production and installation

·       Confident being the go-to person on the floor: calm under pressure, organised, and hands-on

·       Solid working knowledge of signage materials and methods (vinyl, laminates, substrates, fixings, etc.)

·       Confidence working with production files and specifications (you can translate artwork into accurate, buildable signage)

·       Ability to work overtime when needed to meet deadlines

Ideal experience (nice to have)
·       Experience with HP Latex, Adobe Suite, and Flexi Design

·       Experience preparing/managing files for laser and CNC/router work (in-house and outsourced)

·       Experience with LED-lit / illuminated signage and basic electrical awareness for signage builds

·       Comfortable reading technical drawings and coordinating outsourced fabrication (especially metalwork)

·       Project management experience (running multiple jobs, coordinating timelines, keeping stakeholders aligned)
