ASGA to Focus on Education & Connection at Visual Impact

The Australian Sign & Graphics Association has announced its plans for Visual Impact Expo at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, in September, revealing the theme of its stand and confirming some exciting activities during the three-day event.

ASGA will have a significant presence on Stand I13, providing an ideal opportunity for visitors to meet with the ASGA team, find out more about exciting new training and upskilling opportunities the association has introduced recently, and connect with potential partners for installation and other services.

The Association will run two education events on stand, on Wednesday and Thursday, one focusing on their recently-announced partnership with the International Sign Association (ISA) and associated short courses, and the other exploring the future of apprenticeship training and updates to the curriculum.

“This year we have been working hard to address the lack of opportunities for reskilling, upskilling and professional development in the sign and graphics sector, including collaborating with the Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance (MISA), BuildSkills Australia and RTOs on revising the qualifications for signage professionals,” explains Mick Harrold, President of ASGA.

“Visitors to our stand will be able to learn more about the emerging collaboration between the manufacturing and construction parties to deliver the best outcomes for our sector.

“We’ll provide updates on some exciting proposed changes to the course structure, proposals to create smaller skillsets to focus on areas like installation, or print and finishing, and discuss further training after Cert III qualifications. We’re looking forward to hearing their thoughts.”

The ISA partnership provides ASGA members with access to more than 60 online training courses across a wide range of topics and market sectors.

“We are excited to introduce these at the show, and we’ve also partnered with Make it Happen Signage Academy ANZ to bring their acclaimed Signage Bootcamps to the Sydney Showground from Tuesday to Friday that same week,” he says.

ASGA will also host a friendly ‘meet and greet’ to connect signage installation businesses from around the country with companies looking for new installation partners over while enjoying light refreshments.

Visitors to the show can also view the entries for the 2026 Easy Signs National Sign & Graphics Awards on Stand J2-J5 and cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award.

“This year’s entries are particularly impressive, so this will be a fantastic showcase of the very best work our industry has produced over the past two years,” Mick says.

The Awards will be celebrated at the Gala Awards Presentation Dinner to be held in the adjacent event hall 2A on the Thursday evening.

“This event is always a highlight of the industry calendar,” Mick says. “To receive an ASGA Award is the pinnacle of achievement in the industry, and the Dinner will be a fitting recognition of success and a celebration of our industry..

“If you will be in Sydney for this exciting week, I’d encourage you to take the chance to catch up with your peers, connect with potential suppliers, collaborators and partners, reward your team for their efforts, or demonstrate your appreciation to clients for their support.”

ASGA is also a supporting partner of the Connect Conference 2026, a leadership summit which will run alongside the expo each morning. As well as expert keynotes and highly relevant panel sessions, there will be focused panels including insights from the industry’s international associations and a session on the Future of Signage hosted by Mick.

“There are a host of reasons to be at the Sydney Showground in September, and we look forward to seeing you there,” Mick says.
