Queenslanders Brave the Rain for ASGA Social Bowls

Nearly 40 industry identities braved a soggy night in Brisbane on Thursday, to join the ASGA Board at The BOO in Brisbane for the annual ASGA Social Bowls Event.

While play out on the green was impossible due to the rain, the weather did little to dampen the spirits of the crowd, who were more than happy to concentrate on networking with their industry friends and colleagues over drinks and nibbles at the city’s oldest and most prestigious Bowls Club.

The ASGA National Executive (L-R) Marc Martello, Damian Nielsen, Mick Harrold, Wade French and Lisa Michalanney

Among the crowd was the entire ASGA National Executive who had gathered in Brisbane for a strategy planning day prior to the event. Mick Harrold, President and Victorian Chair, flew up from Melbourne, Marc Martello, Public Officer and NSW Chair travelled from Sydney, Lisa Michalanney, Treasurer and SA Chair flew up from Adelaide, while WA Chair Wade French made the trek from Perth. The gathering was hosted by Damian Nielsen, Queensland Chair and also ASGA Member & Events Manager, who hails from the Queensland capital.

The event followed a positive Strategy Planning session, where the National Executive consolidated their plans and vision for the organisation over the short, medium and long term.

“Meeting with so many business owners and industry professionals really reinforces the importance of relationships, and underscores how vital it is to ensure businesses are supported with the information and resources they need to succeed,”  said ASGA Member & Events Manager, Damian Nielsen.

“With more than 80% of our members SMEs with fewer than 20 employees, that’s something we absolutely prioritise,” he added.
