The End of JobKeeper Phase 1 and What This Might Mean for Your Business
With the end of JobKeeper Phase 1 upon us, if your sign business does not qualify for JobKeeper Phase 2, we suggest you notify your staff who are affected by the changes in the next few days.
The current JobKeeper scheme ends on 27 September 2020 and the changes commence on 28 September 2020 (JobKeeper extension period 1). For many of you this means you and your staff are no longer eligible for JobKeeper payments.
Most awards and enterprise agreements have clauses requiring employers to consult about major workplace change and change in hours. (For the relevant awards, see pp. 1-2 of the most recent ASGA Employment Information Guide – access here).
We suggest that the memos to your respective staff will differ according to their individual circumstances, i.e. their employment status (casual / part-time / full-time), whether they have remained at home or already transitioned back to pre-COVID hours and what your needs for them are going forward.
Different scenarios apply for employees who will no longer be eligible for the JobKeeper payment depending on whether your employees are employed on a casual, part-time, or full-time basis.
